Bear Public Library
Bear, Delaware

A 25,000 square foot library designed and built for New Castle County

Highlights:

25,000sf building in a rapidly growing community. It was designed and built for New Castle County Department of Libraries by Design Exchange, now part of Tetra Tech Architects & Engineers.

This library is the newest in New Castle County. The site's multi-directional exposure is recognized in the circular form of the public spaces. Anchored by a large central column and trusses, the free span interior is light and airy with a carousel-like visual appeal. Support areas occupy an adjacent rectilinear space. A variety of masonry materials compliment the surrounding architecture. This building incorporates full-service features, ADA compliance and numerous technology upgrades.
