St. Elizabeth is a private elementary and college preparatory high school, located in Wilmington, Delaware. They found themselves being the only private school of its size and diversity in Delaware, which had only one gym for it's entire student body. "The Box" at St. Elizabeth School could no longer survive on its nostalgic charm. Built in 1956 it has become inadequate to serve the needs of 1,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade and the other 249 teams of the Diocesan CYO program. Tetra Tech integrated standard pre-engineered building materials and components, such as metal siding and metal roofing, with selected areas receiving upgraded materials. The exterior material improvement includes a mixture of brick, split-face block, pre-cast concrete, and translucent panels.
The $4.6 million facility was dedicated on September 15, 2001. The Student Development Center is 25,128 square feet multi-purpose facility, which includes a large lobby for gathering, displays, and the Viking Shoppe a school store, 4 classrooms, gymnasium with room for 1,000 spectators, a large weight training room, wrestling room, and locker room facilities for both boys and girls. This forward thinking facility is designed to meet both the schools current and long-term needs, while positioning itself to be a leader in high school academics and athletics. Thus, allowing for the Viking tradition of providing society with leaders in faith, seekers of academic excellence, and students of technology to be maintained.
